Ceramic & China & Glass Restoration
POTTERY & CERAMIC
Art and Collectibles
Wrightway Studios is famous for its original studio model formed on Ceramic restoration. Over the years this business has grown significantly to include Studio Art Pottery, antique porcelain and top end Murano glass reconstruction. Each ceramic and pottery make has its own peculiarities: Lladro flowers are originally made by rolling wet ceramic between two fingers, Capodimonte is hand painted as is Royal Minton, Doulton, Albert, Worcester, Grimwades.
A common issue is a broken head, missing finger or cracked vase. Our artists are able to restore all these invisibly or visibly depending on your preference and end use for the china item.
We are able to offer you two options in ceramic restoration or repair:
CONSERVATION is a hybrid clean and high grade close knit bond and is visible but enables use of the ceramic item.
RESTORATION an invisible art restoration where the ceramic or porcelain looks as if there has been no previous repair or damage. Pegs or pins may sometimes be required to support a strong bond and this often strengthens the original product . These items become ART OBJECTS- not to be used for eating from or serving food.
As glass is usually inherently "see - through" cracks can be difficult to eliminate, however, fortunately our modern processes allow bonding and curing under ultra-violet lights. These provide a very high standard of crystal clear finish and long lasting results
Swarovski, crystal, depression-era glassware, Murano, Waterford, Stuart are common and complex products which we have had a great depth of experience. If a piece is missing we are able to rebuild using a composite crystal product providing startlingly amazing and successful results.
OBJETS D' ART
No collection is complete without a qurio or piece of art, sculptures, antiques and collectibles. We can repair or restore your ivory carvings and metal or stone sculptures, antique plaster figurines or contemporary concrete sculpture, large or small and often to an invisible standard or gently conserved to allow the artwork to be passed onto the next generation. Naturally this subject matter is very bespoke and as all our approach to work goes, requires the very dedicated specialised skills of our senior craftspeople.
