ARTWORKS & PAINTINGS
The depth of experience amongst our senior long-time artists allows us to repair and restore antique oil paintings, acrylics, sketches, prints, artworks, photos and frames.
Our artists can remove mold, repair tears in paintings, clean and gaze and restore faded or missing colour. We are able to restore scratched and damaged photographs on paper and glass or re-create them digitally back to their original condition.
Each field is fraught with danger if left in the wrong hands and is keenly engaged by the relevant artisan. In addition, back up amongst the large team is instantly available if required. In most cases the restoration work will also invisibly restore and usually recover the value of the piece .
We are experts in restoring antique frames back to their former glory including moulding missing parts to match the original frame. We very carefully test the layers of paint to ensure that any original gold or silver leaf is preserved. Our frame restorer has the expertise to re-guild in 24 caret gold and silver leaf and then age the finish to an antique glow.
We also refurbish lovely old timber frames, fixing any stability issues, treating borer and restoring the timber finish.
There is an in-house framing room at Wrightway Studios where restored paintings and frames are put back together using conservation grade materials only. You can also choose a new frame for your artwork. We stock high-end hand-made Italian frames to more contemporary affordable styles.
We build box frames for your fabulous collectibles that gives protection and displays them as works of art.
A box frame with or without a glass front preserves a restored item in a safe stabilised environment. This is an ideal concept for sentimental or valuable treasures, a collection of model cars, paper cut outs, ceramic pieces etc.
BOOKS BIBLES & PAPER CONSERVATION
A common issue with well loved and often family shared books, is the condition of covers and spines. As they are often made from organic leather or specialised reinforced paper, great depth of skill and knowledge of restoration is required to return your treasure to its former preloved condition. Our expert team can also restore or repair torn, stained and what some would call ‘ruined’ paper to an as new intelligent condition.
Another option if the age or fragile condition is an issue, is a purpose built book box made of conservation materials which can be added amongst books on a shelf.
